April 2026 Updates

AELAS - Update 1.4

Overview:

  • Vastly increased sun path accuracy while keeping full ENB compatibility and even improving it
  • New calendar integration. The simulation now uses the true in-game calendar to synchronize dates
  • Various minor bug fixes

Sun improvements:

In previous versions the sun path could only be roughly projected onto the engines lackluster native path. This was needed to keep ENB compatible and worked relatively well but was never fully accurate, which was especially visible when speeding up the time (time lapse with high timescale for example).
With this new update, ENB compatibility can be ensured even without the need for this extra step. This allows AELAS to take full control of the sun, anchoring it in the simulation and enabling perfect replication of the suns true path, with and without ENB.

Note: Sun related game settings are now essentially ignored. No matter what plugins you have installed, AELAS will ensure that the sun takes the correct path and remains compatible with ENBs detection.

Calendar changes:

Instead of relying on passed in-game days, AELAS will now use the actual in-game calendar to drive the simulation, resulting in both moon phases and solstice dates adhering to the calendar the player can see. This also makes it fully compatible with mods changing the current or starting date via for example Papyrus scripts.

Changes to the config:

  • Sun size compensation removed: no longer needed with the new sun path integration. However, procedural sun is still mandatory for ENB presets!
  • Calendar inputs: Only solstice dates are now supported. Year length is fixed to keep it synced up with the in-game months
